As part of their goods delivery and logistics operations, Hutchinson Builders required a series of weather-protected awnings canopies to be attached to their existing buildings at Smeaton Grange & Eastern Creek. These lightweight industrial canopies provided efficient, covered storage areas for goods and materials, ensuring they remained protected from harsh weather conditions while remaining easily accessible.

  • Installation Time: 1.5 days per structure

  • Primary Use: Weather-protected general storage and goods handling

  • Attachment: Canopies installed as extensions to existing buildings

  • 6 x White Walls Per Structure – Enhances protection from wind and rain, ensuring goods remain safe from environmental exposure.

  • Back Gable Enclosure (3 Sides Enclosed, Front Open) – Allows for maximum access while maintaining structural integrity and weather resistance.

  • Clear Span of 20.00m – Provides an open, unobstructed storage area, allowing for seamless movement of goods and personnel.

  • Hold-Down System (Chemset 101 Anchors & M16 150mm Bolts) – Ensures structural stability with secure anchoring to the base plates, providing resilience against wind and load-bearing capacity.

  • 7 Base Plates Per Structure – Guarantees firm and durable installation, making the canopy long-lasting and sturdy.

 

Project Success


The quick 1.5-day installation of each structure showcased the efficiency and adaptability of light industrial buildings. By extending the existing buildings with modular awnings canopies, Hutchinson Builders was able to optimise their storage space, streamline logistics, and improve site efficiency without disrupting ongoing operations.


This project highlights the versatility and practicality of lightweight industrial structures, providing cost-effective, scalable, and durable storage solutions that protect valuable goods from the elements while maintaining ease of access.
