Ritchie Bros is a global leader in asset management and equipment auctions, supporting industries such as construction, agriculture, transport, and automotive. With large-scale operations across multiple sites, Ritchie Bros required reliable, long-term infrastructure to protect vehicle dismantling and storage activities under varying environmental conditions.
The Challenge
Ritchie Bros initially operated with canvas-style shelters at several locations. However, these proved unsuitable in the long term due to exposure to high winds and unpredictable weather leading to safety risks and reduced operational efficiency.
The company needed a robust industrial canopy solution that could withstand harsh site conditions, ensure compliance with safety requirements, and deliver full weather protection for vehicle dismantling and hybrid vehicle storage.
The Solution
Working closely with Australian Temporary Structures and the manufacturing team at HR Structures GmbH, a series of heavy-duty modular canopies were designed and installed across four key Ritchie Bros sites:
Spring Farm, NSW
Pinkenba, QLD
Laverton, VIC
Cranbourne, VIC
Each canopy measured 15m × 40m and featured high-clearance spans, durable aluminium framing, and reinforced membrane roofing designed to perform under strong wind loads.
These purpose-built structures now provide safe, dry environments for dismantling hybrid vehicles, ensuring parts can be processed and stored efficiently and securely.
